Jonny Witter is Lead Consultant at MTS and a Mining Engineer with a specialised focus on mining optimisation. An alumnus of the prestigious Camborne School of Mines (CSM), Jonny brings a rigorous analytical framework to the MTS team, successfully combining theoretical mineral extraction principles and the high-pressure reality of daily site operations.

Jonny’s career is built on a foundation of practical, boots-on-the-ground experience, beginning with his work in open-pit haulage optimisation at Imerys Minerals UK. This early immersion in fleet efficiency allowed him to develop a niche expertise: leveraging Fleet Management System (FMS) data not just for basic reporting, but as a primary driver for load and haul productivity gains.

At MTS, Jonny is central to the delivery of our mining optimisation projects and digital transformation initiatives, while serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Haul Road Explorer development team. Having led numerous global engagements, he excels at helping mines maximise their Fleet Management Systems and other technologies. By mentoring site teams and refining system configurations, Jonny consistently delivers immediate, sustainable improvements to fleet utilization and cycle times. In recent years, Jonny has supported mines across the Americas, Africa and Australasia.

Whether he is optimising a haul road or architecting a global reporting suite, Jonny remains dedicated to the MTS mission: ensuring that sophisticated mining technology delivers clear, tangible value to the bottom line.
